Water Name

Brooklands

Description

This is a one acre pool with depths of up to 5 ft in most places, it is situated on the Malton to Scarborough Road. The facilities are adequate, but the banks do slope in places and as such some of the pegs are not easy to fish if you are a little un-steady on your feet. There are however a couple of pegs that are designated disabled friendly. There are spaces for caravans and also some self-catering apartments, residents can reserve pegs. The water features a central island, and also has plenty of features on the inside line such as reeds, rushes and lily pads.

The water is not all that deep and the carp do tend to switch off earlier as a result. The carp do run to over 20lb, but most of the fish average around the 5lb mark. All the regular carp baits work fine, but don't fish that heavy, or the bites won't come.

Other fish include rudd and roach with some better ones around the 2lb mark. Some of the best fish in here are the tench that appear to have steadied out just short of the 7lb range. Bream are also taken to 7lb on corn and worm. There are also chub present.

Fish light where you can, using maggots, caster and corn, with the strawberry corn doing ok late and early season.
