Water Name

Barlow Common Pond

Description

This water, which covers just over 4 acres and also known locally as Barlow Common Nature Reserve is now managed by one of our own members – Doug Powley (Tyke66) t/a TMT Angling. There are a total of 22 available pegs, of which 6 pegs are being laid out as bivvy pegs for night permit holders. Fishing is from purpose built wooden platforms with two designated disabled pegs adjacent to the lake side car park. There are plenty of features to target, as well as depths that range from about 6ft down to over 8ft in places. There are also on-site toilets, adjacent to the reserve visitor centre and surfaced footpaths around the mere.

There is now a lake side car park available, which is accessed by taking the A1041 from Selby (Snaith road) and turning left onto Barlow Common Road. Follow this road for one mile and the access lane to the car park is on the right.

Fishing is from dawn to dusk. Access to the lake side car park is available from 8am daily. Anglers wishing to fish earlier than this will need to use the reserve’s public car park. From Selby you need to take the A1041 towards Snaith, from the centre of Selby you need to go just over 3 miles on this road and turn left for Snaith (signposted just after the railway bridge) the park is signposted about half a mile down this road on the left hand side.
